Well, that's me done until next year when my wedding season starts again mid January, my final flower proposals have just been sent out. This year has thrown a few curve balls my way, but I've had some absolutely fantastic couples who have trusted me to create florals for their dream day. There's been couples who I had to tell I was pregnant and help them move forward in flower planning without me, who were so understanding and awesome. There's been new flower friends I've made along the way and i'm truly grateful to have found a little gang of like-minded florists who help each other out. I've had the pleasure of working alongside some of the industries very best, from cake designers to venues and photographers. And although this year has turned out a little differently than first expected with the surprise pregnancy and then arrival of my daughter, it's been a really great year for little old me and this business I started years ago. Next year is looking to be beast!! There's some truly beautiful weddings planned, and I am so excited to start working on those, again with more incredible couples. There are very limited dates now available so if you would like to chat flowers, don't leave it too late! Hello November. October went by in a blur of weddings, chest infections and a teething baby. Now we are well and truly back to darker nights and miserable weather. Alot of people might be put off by this time of year when planning weddings, but it can actually add a rather fab element that you don't get with summer weddings so much. Cosy, magical, and even etheral light. Darker days can be made something else with plenty of candle light amongst lush florals. Fireplaces with florals and candles are always a winner. Well, I thought I'd better post something as I've been MIA for a while. I'm still here!!! I had a baby 6 weeks ago, so my wedding season has been a little different this summer. I have been busy behind the scenes, though, with a handful of weddings I'd kept on and so many quotes and bookings for next year, but just no brain space for Instagram. Now my daughter has settled into the gang a bit more, I can start to share more. I had a month off after she was born and then carried on with weddings 😅 I'm so ready for next year. Another look at the incredible wedding from last spring @thicketpriory in these snaps by @luciewatsonphotography . This fireplace in the morning room at Thicket is a beauty! It really does create the most perfect backdrop for your wedding ceremony. Over the years we have dressed it many ways from touches of foliage, bud vases on mass or like this, with a large piece designed to really make you and your guests say wow as they walk into the room! For Jess, we used a mix of seasonal, locally grown flowers and foliage from Jan @fieldandbloom with pops of roses and bits from further afar @the.flower.connection.leeds The addition of fresh lilac throughout and in vases down the aisle made the whole room smell incredible. This time last year (well yesterday 2022!) we were thrilled to be working on this incredible wedding of Jess & Dan, who got married at Thicket Priory. And just like that we are in May. How totally crazy is that, this year seems to be flying. Can we just take a moment to appreciate this absolute beauty of a shot by @gabrielasphotographyandfilm from a wedding of ours last summer. Laura & Greg were the ultimate chilled couple and the whole vibe for the wedding really reflected this. The wind was insane, with the outdoor décor and Pampas grass clinging on for dear life at times but everything looked amazing. This bouquet was a mix of dried and fresh flowers in muted tones with pops of rust from those roses. Its something we don't seem to be getting asked for much at the moment, has the dried flowers look run its course? I don't think i'll ever get tired of making pedestal pieces. They are so versatile and can easily be used throughout the day. A lot of my couples like to have them as part of the ceremony flowers and then have them moved to feature elsewhere. They can be any shape, size and in a variety of pots, urns and vases, on wooden plinths, perspex plints, no plinths, the combinations are endless! A personal favourite look is the 'undone' and super natural style like this one from a wedding back in September last year. Made up using 95% locally grown flowers and foliage in a foam free way, that not only looks gorgeous but a sustainable way to work. Well hasn't October just flown? I've had some fantastic autumnal weddings the last couple of weeks and when I get sec i'll share some images with you. I love this time of year, late September to October, all the colours and textures that nature throws at you after a lush green summer, its my absolute favourite. Thought I'd better say hello having had a fair few people get in touch recently to chat all things wedding. This is me, Laura! The face of Mint & Moose and person behind every email, text, zoom meeting, quote, mood board, social media post, wedding set up and of course the flowers. I'm a one man band, but occasionally have help from family and friends if I have a big wedding needing extra hands setting up. Its no secret that I love a good statement fire piece full of seasonal flowers and foliage, with nothing too uniform. . Flowers at mint & moose aren't done in a way that have even or odd numbers of things, they aren't matchy matchy and aren't done in a way where stems are placed in the same places on every design. There are rogue blooms off doing their own thing, foliage that refuses to conform to the rest of the design and usually a few bees that have hitch hiked a ride from field to venue. This is what makes mint & moose. Its that combination of dreamy flowers, letting them have their moment, working with them and not against them. And making sure the mechanics behind each design are foam free. Sometimes this means thinking outside the box to get the desired look but worth it, always. . Dried flowers aren't usually my bag, but I really enjoyed this wedding a couple of weeks ago. I had free rein on what materials I used and I think the combination was rather fab, if I do say so myself 😅 These super light and textured buttonholes have unleashed a secret love of dried flowers in me I think. Its the straw flowers, they've got me. Everything but the ruscus was dried at home, I had bits hung everywhere for weeks. The house feels rather empty now. Still a lot of love for pastel blues and whites and it's easy to see why! This arch was the focal piece for last weekends wedding at The Hospitium in York and I loved it. A mix of locally grown flowers and foliage coupled with beautiful roses and hydrangea and you've got a winning combo. The wedding was foam free, from arch to meadow aisle runners I'm proud to be using more environmentally sound mechanics. This arch was taken apart, the flowers went home with my couple and all the mechanics, the moss, the chicken wire gets used again and again. I've no wedding this week, which is a welcome break. Well what a weekend! Between 4:30am starts and countless buckets of foliage to process I think I've just about recovered. I hope everyone has had a great bank holiday celebrating the jubilee (or not if your like me 😅, although i have eaten more slices of cake and strawberries than I'd like to admit!). I had the pleasure of providing flowers for a fab couple at the beginning of the week. Seasonal blush pinks and whites were the brief, which seems to be the choice for most of my couples currently! These urn arrangements were used first in church on large plinths and then moved to the venue to create more flower focal points. This last weeks glorious sunshine has got me excited about the reintroduction of locally grown flowers as we head into the warmer months. Here is a perfect example. 95% of this bouquet was made using British flowers from just down the road. @lauracalderwood captured this wedding perfectly. A relaxed, cottage garden vibe. The flowers certainly were a reflection of this with their rogue stems and undone look. And Andrea our bride was super chilled too. I'm growing a lot of my own bits this year, its become a bit of a 'thing' in our house as there are seedlings everywhere, i've even had to leave some at my mums as i've run out of space! Another look at Kate's wintery bouquet from her wedding on the 30th December. I love wintery weddings. I can't believe we are about to start October. Where has this crazy year gone? After the rush of summer weddings and pastel colours schemes I'm really looking forward to the change in season. Table decor doesn't always have to be big! Flowers and foliage in beautiful glassware on mass can be just as striking. Toning colours and different textures can really catch your eye and look bloody gorgeous! Here's hoping today's announcement will give all of my wedding industry friends a much needed plan for the year. It's been a tough old year for so many of us. Being a part of the wedding industry is the only source of income for alot of us (like me) and some haven't been eligible for any government grants or help (also like me). Fingers crossed we can start to move towards a summer of weddings, even small ones. Just something to make us feel like there is hope. Couples also have been massively affected, I have several who are on their 4th or 5th postponed dates which is bonkers. My heart goes out to you all. Spring is on the way! Even though today is so so cold all the spring bulbs are on their way up. Snowdrops, muscari, daffs and tulips are on a mission to bloom in the garden. Hopefully the warmer weather next week will help. Its lighter on a morning too which is making me feel much happier. I love the changes in season but after a really pants winter with lockdown I am so ready for lighter mornings and nights and some sunshine!

Blush pinks are still proving popular with our couples, rapidly taking the lead from greens and white. And roses continue to steal everyone's hearts. I love using roses, from the humble memory lane right through to the beautifully scented garden roses. They will always scream wedding to me. A lot of love for simple pieces on aisle chairs or pew ends at the moment. One of my favourite things to use is combinations of seasonal foliage and herbs as it makes the room smell amazing. Guests always comment on this. I also love having them this way up, so the heaviest part of the design is at a lower level. It helps the eye flow up the aisle easy and looks little bit different! Well I've been well and truly off grid for a while and terrible at posting on here, sorry! I've been overwhelmed with the number of wedding enquiries for this year and next in the last couple of weeks.
