WOW. I cannot begin to thank you for the absolutely amazing job you did for our wedding over the weekend!! When we had our initial chats about everything I had no idea you would make it look as magical as it did. The bouquets were perfect. I loved mine so much. It was so elegant and chic and EXACTLY what I wanted. I felt so amazing holding it, its just a shame you don’t hold it for very long! Mum has kept all of them and they are in vases in the kitchen.

Laura at Mint & Moose crafted the most beautiful floral arrangements for our September wedding which included bouquets, button holes and table decorations for our reception. From our first meeting right up to our big day, Laura was an absolute joy to work with. Her knowledge and experience as a florist was invaluable. We opted for seasonal blooms with deep, dark colour tones to tie in with our theme. The hand tied bouquets were full of texture which contrasted with the simplicity of the foliage on our reception tables. Laura genuinely didn't disappoint and our guests were pretty impressed too! Not long to go now until my wedding season starts and I'm really looking forward to sharing some beautiful spring weddings with you. When bigger is better! ALOT of love for larger, oversized bouquets at the moment and I'm here for it! Top table goals! I have a lot of couples shunning traditional top tables at the moment and choosing sweet heart tables instead. This is a fab way to keep your bubble for a bit longer on the day, to have your moment whilst watching your guests. No worrying about who sits next to each other, which family members are to be on the top table and who to side line. (Hurray for family politics!) Its just you guys. And I personally love that! Can we just take a moment to appreciate this absolute beauty of a shot by @gabrielasphotographyandfilm from a wedding of ours last summer. Laura & Greg were the ultimate chilled couple and the whole vibe for the wedding really reflected this. The wind was insane, with the outdoor décor and Pampas grass clinging on for dear life at times but everything looked amazing. This bouquet was a mix of dried and fresh flowers in muted tones with pops of rust from those roses. Its something we don't seem to be getting asked for much at the moment, has the dried flowers look run its course? I don't think i'll ever get tired of making pedestal pieces. They are so versatile and can easily be used throughout the day. A lot of my couples like to have them as part of the ceremony flowers and then have them moved to feature elsewhere. They can be any shape, size and in a variety of pots, urns and vases, on wooden plinths, perspex plints, no plinths, the combinations are endless! A personal favourite look is the 'undone' and super natural style like this one from a wedding back in September last year. Made up using 95% locally grown flowers and foliage in a foam free way, that not only looks gorgeous but a sustainable way to work. Hello! how are we all? Thought I'd better post on here as I've been MIA since October online. You know when life just gets in the way and you don't have time to sit down and post? Well hasn't October just flown? I've had some fantastic autumnal weddings the last couple of weeks and when I get sec i'll share some images with you. I love this time of year, late September to October, all the colours and textures that nature throws at you after a lush green summer, its my absolute favourite. When its cold enough to stick a jumper on, but the sunshine warms you whilst out walking. When the lights is low and breaks through the trees. HELL YES! And now the clocks have gone back the days start to get shorter and November just seems to be full of grey skies and dull days. Thought I'd better say hello having had a fair few people get in touch recently to chat all things wedding. This is me, Laura! The face of Mint & Moose and person behind every email, text, zoom meeting, quote, mood board, social media post, wedding set up and of course the flowers. I'm a one man band, but occasionally have help from family and friends if I have a big wedding needing extra hands setting up. Some random facts about me (if you're remotely interested!) * I love pasta, pizza, bread. Anything carb loaded makes me happiest. * I can remember the most random information like car number plates from cars we had growing up in the 80s & 90s. Can't remember anything from my Psychology degree though 😅 * I don't like to eat prawns, crabs, lobster, any shell fish. Nope, no thanks. Its the little eyes that freak me out. * I don't really drink alcohol, after totally over doing it at uni and the years after ( I ended up with alcohol poisoning, its not cool kids.) Its no secret that I love a good statement fire piece full of seasonal flowers and foliage, with nothing too uniform. . Flowers at mint & moose aren't done in a way that have even or odd numbers of things, they aren't matchy matchy and aren't done in a way where stems are placed in the same places on every design. There are rogue blooms off doing their own thing, foliage that refuses to conform to the rest of the design and usually a few bees that have hitch hiked a ride from field to venue. This is what makes mint & moose. Its that combination of dreamy flowers, letting them have their moment, working with them and not against them. And making sure the mechanics behind each design are foam free. Sometimes this means thinking outside the box to get the desired look but worth it, always. . Things have been quiet on here recently but behind the scenes its bonkers! Dried flowers aren't usually my bag, but I really enjoyed this wedding a couple of weeks ago. I had free rein on what materials I used and I think the combination was rather fab, if I do say so myself 😅 These super light and textured buttonholes have unleashed a secret love of dried flowers in me I think. Its the straw flowers, they've got me. Everything but the ruscus was dried at home, I had bits hung everywhere for weeks. The house feels rather empty now. The rest of the wedding included blush roses and nude tones coupled with plenty of pampass grass and dried foliage. Still a lot of love for pastel blues and whites and it's easy to see why! This arch was the focal piece for last weekends wedding at The Hospitium in York and I loved it. A mix of locally grown flowers and foliage coupled with beautiful roses and hydrangea and you've got a winning combo. The wedding was foam free, from arch to meadow aisle runners I'm proud to be using more environmentally sound mechanics. This arch was taken apart, the flowers went home with my couple and all the mechanics, the moss, the chicken wire gets used again and again. I've no wedding this week, which is a welcome break. Well what a weekend! Between 4:30am starts and countless buckets of foliage to process I think I've just about recovered. I hope everyone has had a great bank holiday celebrating the jubilee (or not if your like me 😅, although i have eaten more slices of cake and strawberries than I'd like to admit!). Not a rose in sight for Saturday's wedding at @oakwoodatryther . Instead, we used a mix of white, green and blue meadow inspired flowers. The brief was relaxed, hedge row and i think we nailed it. I try to encourage couples to reuse their flowers as much as possible on their wedding day. From bridesmaids bouquets to repurposing larger arrangements following the ceremony. Flowers aren't cheap! Get as much out of them as you can. These beauties were from a wedding at @thicketpriory last weekend. They were used in the Chapel first and then I moved them to the ballroom after the ceremony to the wedding breakfast in the ballroom. I had the pleasure of providing flowers for a fab couple at the beginning of the week. Seasonal blush pinks and whites were the brief, which seems to be the choice for most of my couples currently! These urn arrangements were used first in church on large plinths and then moved to the venue to create more flower focal points. This last weeks glorious sunshine has got me excited about the reintroduction of locally grown flowers as we head into the warmer months. Here is a perfect example. 95% of this bouquet was made using British flowers from just down the road. @lauracalderwood captured this wedding perfectly. A relaxed, cottage garden vibe. The flowers certainly were a reflection of this with their rogue stems and undone look. And Andrea our bride was super chilled too. I'm growing a lot of my own bits this year, its become a bit of a 'thing' in our house as there are seedlings everywhere, i've even had to leave some at my mums as i've run out of space! Another look at Kate's wintery bouquet from her wedding on the 30th December. I love wintery weddings. When foliage is at its best and no matter what combination of flowers, it always adds instant winter vibes. This bouquet was a seasonal feast for yhe eyes from paperwhites to anemones. I can't believe we are about to start October. Where has this crazy year gone? After the rush of summer weddings and pastel colours schemes I'm really looking forward to the change in season. Sorry for lack of content on here recently, it's not that I have nothing to post, quite the opposite! There's so much, I just haven't had time to go through it all! Super busy with weddings and quotes at the moment.. This was from last weekend's amazing wedding at The Grand, York. There were flowers everywhere! Here's hoping today's announcement will give all of my wedding industry friends a much needed plan for the year. It's been a tough old year for so many of us. Being a part of the wedding industry is the only source of income for alot of us (like me) and some haven't been eligible for any government grants or help (also like me). Fingers crossed we can start to move towards a summer of weddings, even small ones. Just something to make us feel like there is hope. Couples also have been massively affected, I have several who are on their 4th or 5th postponed dates which is bonkers. My heart goes out to you all. Spring is on the way! Even though today is so so cold all the spring bulbs are on their way up. Snowdrops, muscari, daffs and tulips are on a mission to bloom in the garden. A lot of love for simple pieces on aisle chairs or pew ends at the moment. One of my favourite things to use is combinations of seasonal foliage and herbs as it makes the room smell amazing. Well I've been well and truly off grid for a while and terrible at posting on here, sorry! It's creeping round to that time of year when all the deep and moody tones are back with a bang. This wedding season has been so strange. With no weddings due to covid, I've not had the usual pleasure of spring, then summer blooms and then the desperate need for autumn colours after a sea of pastels. But this feels different though. White & green looking to be super popular for our couples next year. It's a classic look that never really goes away. Pastels have taken the lead in recent years but whites are never far behind. . When working with all whites I like to use lots of textured flowers and foliage. It breaks up the heaviness, by using a combination of small and larger blooms it gives movement and depth. . You could introduce a tiny touch of colour like this bouquet from back in spring. The addition of pale blue muscari and delphiniums give a cooler pop of colour, which look fab with silvers, metalics, blues. Thought I'd better get back into work mode! Don't know about anyone else but since lockdown I've felt completely out of sorts. Working from home trying to keep things moving forward, juggling postponements and staying focused has been tricky! That teamed with a 3 year old whose world has been turned upside down and a recently diagnosed step dad with dementia and alzheimer's (which has been awful with lockdown restrictions) i've had to take a bit of time to re group and come back to the new 'normal'. . Looking back at weddings from this time last year and really feeling for my couples who have had to postpone their big day. Luckily, everyone so far has managed to move their dates and keep their original suppliers, silver linings and all that. Beautiful wedding @thicketpriory yesterday 😍 . Our bride was the ultimate chilled bride, wanting a natural look, using a mixture of blooms in pastel tones and a pop of burgundy to add depth. We used hellebore, anemone, roses, some rather gorgeous ' brownies carnations' , astrantia, phlox, lisianthus, snaps and a whole load of textured foliage to create Kim's flowers. We've had more followers recently, along with an influx of emails and enquiries from newly engaged peeps so thought it's time to say hi! . Mint & Moose is pretty much me, Laura 👋 I have couple of people (my mum usually) that help set up big weddings with me but that's it. I work from a small studio space at home that I juggle around family life. I only take on a limited number of weddings each year so I can give as much attention to each one as possible. . So a little bit about me if you're still reading! . * 30 something florist who hates having her picture taken. (This picture is from last year by @@thevedrinesphoto, I don't have any with me and flowers in, should probably work on that). I live in jumpers and big old boots like my Mountain Horse yard boots. They are my happy place. . I'm constantly in the process of growing out a pixie cut, it seems never ending. Just as it starts to touch my shoulders I have it all chopped off. And so the cycle begins, again. . My favourite time of year is end of September - October, when all the leaves start to turn and the mornings are chillier. . I'm a bit of a nerd (alot of a nerd) and love binging on t.v series, in fact I think I need an intervention because once I start something I have to see it through to the end. Favourite shows include The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Narcos, Vikings, Altered Carbon.. . I'm a total carb queen and would happily live off pasta and bread. . Our house includes me, boyfriend, 3 year old son , 1 black lab (was 2 up until new years eve 😔) and a 15 year old chinchilla. . I've a strange obsession with interesting light fittings. . When I walked in to the main room with my best man I was absolutely blown away with the explosion of colour which made the room POP! The bridal bouquets and buttonholes completed the theme and several of my male friends complimented the flowers which would definitely not be a usual topic of conversation for us!
